BRTF Jawans donates blood
ITANAGAR, Apr 11: Shouldering their social responsibility towards the civil society, HQ 756 BRTF (GREF), Damsite, Naharlagun organized a voluntary blood donation camp involving their officials and jawans.
Altogether, 32 units of blood were collected. There was enthusiastic participation from the BRTF personnel.
The technical support for the conduction of the camp was done under the guidance of Dr. Pekba Ringu, DD (SBTC) and Dr. P Sona, MD (Path), Medical Officer, Arunachal State Hospital, Naharlagun.
Prior to the blood donation camp a Blood Donor Motivation Camp cum HIV/AIDS awareness programme was conducted for the personnel of the BRTF.
Dr. Nabam Budh, Deputy Director (BTS) and STI, APSACS enlightened the audience about HIV/AIDS and their preventive measures. He also explained the jawans about the benefit of use of condom to protect oneself from not only HIV/AIDS but also various sexually transmitted infections. He also dwelt on Reproductive Tract Infections (RTIs) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI).
Dony Taying, AD (VBD), APSACS, as one of the resource persons of the programme spoke on voluntary blood donation and its importance. He also dispelled many myths and misconceptions associated to voluntary blood donation.
An interactive session on HIV/AIDS issue and voluntary blood donation was arranged where Dr.Nabam Budh and Dr.P Sona answered the queries of the BRTF jawans.
B.Ravi, Commandant, HQ 756 BRTF (GREF) GREF also spoke on the occasion called upon his jawans to voluntarily participate in such blood donation camp and imbibe the habit of blood donation which will not save human lives but also keep oneself healthy.
Disease and Pest management held
AALO, Apr 11: District Level Training on Disease and Pest management was conducted today at the community hall at Tai under Tirbin circle of West Siang District.
The training was sponsored by District Agriculture Officer West Siang under the aegis of Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA).

Lapung also castigated Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju for alleged insensitiveness of the dreaded law. "If anybody was victimized under AFSPA, Kiren will be held responsible" AAPSU President said. He also questioned the stand of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Unit on AFSPA.
AAPSU President further appealed State BJP to come out with spirit to support the people of Arunachal in demanding repealing of AFSPA from Arunachal Pradesh. "State BJP should come out with spirit and should join in protest against the draconian law" Lapung added. Coming down heavily on Tuki led government for enacting APUAPA, AAPSU stated that both laws are similar in nature, as it infringes upon individual liberty.

Condemning the BJP led Government particularly MoS Kiren Rijiju for bringing up AFSPA in Arunachal, NESO Coordinator Pritam Bhai Sonam stated that the MoS has betrayed the people of Arunachal by rewarding such dreaded law. "Whom we trusted the most, has cursed us with AFSPA" Sonam added. "AFSPA has been unnecessarily imposed in Arunachal to harass the common people" NESO Coordinator said. Questioning the logic behind draconian law extension he said, "Can MoS Kiren name any banned organisation in Arunachal to justify the bringing up of AFSPA? Citing example over misuse of AFSPA, Sonam informed that one local man was shot dead in 2007 by the armed force near Gumto in Papum Pare district. However, the police justified the killing that saying the victim was mistakenly shot, Sonam claimed.
AAPSU and NESO also lodged protest over Kiren Rijiju's statement wherein he said the centre is ready to withdraw if the state government effectively deals with insurgent. How come the state government deals effectively with insurgent without support from the centre" questioned the organisations. "Instead of rescuing people in financial crisis, MoS Kiren is passing responsibility to the state government" it added.
AAPSU and NESO furthered condemned the Chinese government for repeatedly claiming over Arunachal Pradesh. Chinese government is baselessly claiming Arunachal as its territory, AAPSU stated while strongly reacting the Chinese government. "We look similar doesn't mean that we are Chinese, we were never been part of China and Tibet, we are Indians" AAPSU reiterated.
Meanwhile, opposing the extension of the draconian law to as many as 12 districts, All Tagin Students' Union (ATSU) has appealed to the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs to take up the matter with the Centre for its immediate repeal.

ITANAGAR, Apr 11: There is differing voices on imposition from the Armed Forces Special Powers Act in the state with People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) resolving to stage a rally against imposition of the Act on 15th April, 2015 at Itanagar starting from Banderdewa to Chimpu. While the Arunachal Pradesh unit of BJP today said that the decision to impose AFSPA in 12 districts of the state was taken due to failure of the state government to curb militant activity which is on the rise in recent times.
PPA termed the imposition of the Act by the Ministry of Home Affairs in all districts of Arunachal bordering Assam as "dictatorial, against democracy and the very ethos of the quasi federal character of the Indian Constitution".
The People of the State along with all the right based Organizations condemn this Act and, the People's Party of Arunachal vows to leave no stone unturned in its fight against this wrongful imposition of the Act, said Chairman CWC PPA Kamen Ringu, in a Party meeting held on Imposition of AFSPA in Arunachal Pradesh. This is a deliberate insult to the most peace loving State, who are so patriotic in their thought and approach inspite of being culturally and ethnically so akin and close to the Tibetans and Chinese living across the MacMohan Line, added Ringu.

At KHONSA: Attending the Pongtu Kuh, PWD Minister Gojen Gadi extended his Pongtu Kuh greetings to the people at Khonsa and suggested the organisers to celebrate the festival at Itanagar also.

Honour views of State Govt before imposing AFSPA: ACR
ITANAGAR, Apr 11: While welcoming the gesture of Union Minister of Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju for responding to the grievances of the state Govt and some organizations, Arunachal Citizens Rights (ACR) today called upon the Union Home Ministry to respect the federal character of our Constitution and consult and honour the views of the State Government before imposing such a draconian and controversial legislation like Armed Forces Special Powers' Act (AFSPA). The ACR urged both the Union Home Ministry and Government of India to be fair and transparent in laying down any intelligence report or related information before the people of the state behind the imposition of this draconian law in districts like East and West Kameng, Lower Subansiri and Papum Pare, West and East Siang, and Lohit and Lower Dibang Valley.
The statement of the Union Minister has unfortunately failed to answer the questions raised by the State Govt and the organizations and satisfy the apprehensions raised by the people of Arunachal Pradesh, the ACR said.
Rijiju in his statement had said that "Declaration of the districts bordering Assam, in Arunachal Pradesh, as disturbed has been made with the sole purpose of enabling the Forces to chase and arrest these terrorists and insurgents irrespective of the distance they cover in Arunachal Pradesh for a limited period till these violent Assam based groups are neutralised. Reading anything about this measure beyond this is improper and unfortunate."
However, ACR, while pointing out the failure of the Armed forces, said that AFSPA was first imposed in three districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding in 1991 to deal with the insurgents. But the situation implies utter failure on the part of the armed forces even when they are armed with such a draconian law for last 25 years. The AFSPA has also not been revoked in these districts, ACR said.
How can then the Minister justify the extension of the AFSPA to 12 districts of Arunachal Pradesh when imposing AFSPA thereafter within 20 kms of the area bordering Assam did not yield any result in all these years?, ACR questioned. The Minister himself admitted that "Security Forces have been finding it increasingly difficult to act against them, even if they know their whereabouts."
The ACR claimed that on the contrary to his statement, the Union minister has blamed the Arunachal Pradesh Govt of being not effective in dealing with the terrorists when it is the army which has failed the people of Arunachal Pradesh for the last 25 years.
"The Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament from Arunachal Pradesh (West), has also failed to respond to the apprehensions of human rights violations of the armed forced in the aftermath of imposing AFSPA in other North Eastern States as documented by the Jeevan Reddy Commission and various other studies including that of the Institute of Defence Studies and Analysis (IDSA), a Government of India Body," the ACR added.

The event was organized by Industrial Growth Centre Youth Association (IGCYA), Ruksin under the sponsorship of Tatong Taki and his family members in memory of their late father, who was also the Head Gaon Burah of Linka village under Ruksin circle.
